Celebrating 20 Years of Community Support

The Gala at The Riverhouse has been a solid fundraising event in the community for the past 20 years. The Central Oregon Visitors Association in partnership with The Riverhouse produces the entire event from preliminary beneficiary selection, through donation procurement, ticket sales, and volunteer support for the evening of the event. The Riverhouse also completely donates all the food and beverage, facility, and labor for the night of the event; thereby ensuring that 100% of ticket sales directly benefit the selected charity. The Gala remains one of the most successful charity events Central Oregon and continues to help local non-profits in a meaningful way year after year. Since it began, this annual event has raised over $1.4 million for a variety of local non-profit organizations. Past beneficiaries include:

 • Sparrow Clubs USA
• KIDS Center
• Boys & Girls Club
• Ronald McDonald House
• The Every Kid Fund
• Deschutes Children’s Foundation
• Tower Theater
• Cascade Youth & Family Center
• Habitat For Humanity
• Volunteers in Medicine

The Gala evening includes a delectable five course meal, one-of-a-kind silent auction, and special presentation from a featured guest speaker, Rulon Gardner.

The 2012 Beneficiary: Grandma's House

In celebrating the 20th year of the Gala at The Riverhouse event, we are excited to be pairing with a local non-profit organization that is also celebrating their 20th year of providing life changing services to our local community. Grandma’s House is a non-profit, faith-based home and outreach program that provides safe shelter to homeless and/or abused pregnant and parenting girls between the ages of 12 and 19 years old.

Grandma's House of Central Oregon

Funds raised from the 2012 Gala at The Riverhouse will be used towards a kitchen remodel in the permanent Grandma's House residence. The house itself was built in 1963, but it has gone through some major remodels over the years in order to accommodate the fluctuating number of girls and their babies. The kitchen, however, has not undergone a remodel. It is a small kitchen with an undersized eating area that is not functional or conducive for all the household members to prepare, serve, and eat meals together. Money raised from The Gala event will go towards completely tearing apart and remodeling the existing kitchen and dining area, including expanding the space in order to create more room for everyone. In this new kitchen, they will have the chance to learn how to cook nutritious meals for themselves and their babies, as well as understand the importance of family time and coming together for a meal.

Grandma's House is committed to providing essential nurturing resources, namely physical, emotional and spiritual support for abused pregnant or parenting teens. They emphasize wellness and healthy development of children, families and communities though education, guidance and support. The goal of Grandma's House is to help each young woman become self sufficient and be able to make responsible decisions for herself and her child. They are the only home of its kind east of the Cascades addressing the needs of this special population.

• 5:30pm - Cocktails & Silent Auction.
• 7:00pm - Five-Course Dinner & Guest Speaker, Rulon Gardner

In 2001, Gardner added a world championship to his list of accomplishments with a victory in the finals over a competitor from Hungary.
