Live Music Friday: John Shipe
Event Info
February 27, 2026
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
John Shipe is an acclaimed Americana songwriter and live performer whose cinematic, multi-genre sound has earned international recognition. His last two albums, Yellow House and Villain, charted across six countries on three continents, and his newest project, The Beast Is Back, continues that momentum with a collection of mature love songs, triumphant anthems, slow-burn reflections, rollicking roots-rock stompers, and soulful elegies.
Known for vividly drawn characters and emotionally rich storytelling, Shipe’s music blends empathy, humor, swagger, and heart. Produced by Tyler Fortier (Anna Tivel, Jeffrey Martin), his recordings feature a lush acoustic palette shaped by Pacific Northwest all-star musicians, including pedal steel, piano, organ, strings, horns, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and Shipe’s signature slide guitar—honed through years of touring as an electric frontman.
Shipe has shared stages with legendary artists including Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Derek Trucks, Los Lobos, and Jimmy Cliff. Whether performing solo or with a full ensemble, he commands the room with ease—making his live shows at Currents at the Riverhouse an immersive experience that pairs powerful songwriting with an intimate, riverside setting.
