Beats & Bites Brunch: Sidney Joseph

Sidney Joseph is a multi-instrumentalist whose greatest passion—creating and performing music—began when he was just a wee lad. With a foggy Philly past, Sidney first made waves fronting the electric power trio Home Baked Habitat, later shifting into bass with the groovy jam-band Philly Toboggan Co.

Never one to stay still, he picked up the drums and formed the dynamic band AfroBear. “It was kinda easy considering I’d been playing air-drums my whole life lol,” he jokes.

The smoky-voiced singer recently relocated to Eugene, Oregon, where the wet, lush beauty of the Pacific Northwest is inspiring a new wave of original songs. Today, Sidney performs solo sets featuring his own music along with soulful, eclectic covers from artists such as Dave Matthews, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Neil Young, Otis Redding, James Taylor, Jack Johnson, The Allman Brothers, Pearl Jam, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, and more.
