Spring in Central Oregon
Spring in Bend is a season of transition—and one of the most rewarding times to visit. As snow lingers in the mountains and sunshine returns to the valley, the city begins to open back up in subtle, satisfying ways. Days grow longer, temperatures rise gradually, and trails at lower elevations become more accessible.
Spring brings contrast. While skiing and snowshoeing may still be possible in the Cascades, Bend’s downtown patios, breweries, and river walks start to feel distinctly warm-weather friendly. This overlap allows visitors to experience multiple seasons in a single trip.
Spring Skiing in Bend, OR
One of Bend’s great spring perks is that the ski season often lingers well into April—and sometimes May—at Mt. Bachelor. Warmer temperatures mean softer snow, bluebird days, and a more relaxed vibe on the mountain—perfect for casual laps, scenic chair rides, and après that starts a little earlier than usual.
Outdoor Concerts Are Back!
Events and cultural programming begin to reappear as well, adding energy without overwhelming the pace of the city (looking at you, Hayden Homes Amphitheater!). For a look at some of the upcoming outdoor concerts that kick off this season, check out the Arts & Entertainment section of our blog.
Along the Deschutes River, walking paths and riverfront parks are some of the first places locals return as winter recedes. It’s an ideal time for casual hikes, bike rides, and scenic strolls without peak-season crowds.
It’s a season where you can still sneak in a few spring ski days and then trade boots for patio seating by sunset. Easygoing, flexible, and quietly beautiful, spring is Bend at its most balanced.
